You n...You have hit the nail on the head yet again. You now have a "purrrfect" score in the war against J&J and it's partner Animas Corp. I can only confirm what you have written as the truth and with the exception of the meeting with Mr. Flynn (I was not there) I can verify everything you have said. I'm the one referred to in your article as the "lucky one" who received a replacement for my 2020 because it had a software problem.
You can imagine my delight when Animas informed me that they would in fact be replacing my old 2020 with a brand new "ping". They went to great lengths to toot there horns about their commitment to customer service and their ongoing efforts to provide a quality product in lifesaving technology. You can imagine my surprise when it was disclosed by Mr. Flynn that my new "Ping" pump was stricken with the same software glitch that plagued my 2020.
Fool me once shame on me fool me twice and your name must be Animas. I can only say that it will be a frosty Friday in Hell before another Animas product will cross over my doorstep. I am on a disability income and receive an annual income of $13,000.00 per year. I do not have private insurance and I have a wife (who is in poor health) to support as well. Animas has a lifesaving product that I depend on 24 hours of every day. If it screws up my life is at stake. A new Animas pump costs in the range of $6.5k. and I make &13K. Take the difference and try and live on the rest. It can't be done.
Animas you have given me a new pump without any warranty coverage so if it fails, well so much for me. I hope you feel great about this and I would encourage you to take this story to your next stockholders meeting so you can tell them (with all honesty) that you have once again performed with the stockholders well being at the forefront. Congratulations once again on your level of truth and customer commitment.
Fraser Graynoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6745671905480665246.post-4407752828369528302013-03-24T11:11:09.744-07:002013-03-24T11:11:09.744-07:00Business is so involved with patent protection tha...Business is so involved with patent protection that we, the end users CANNOT have what we want. One company patents one thing, and then the other companies can't have it. Etc. etc. So therefore, there is no such thing as a pump that has all the features you want, and there will be flaws in everything. I really wish business was cooperative (but that would turn them into a monopoly, and then they'd have no "special" selling points), because we would really get better products.

Or maybe I've been smoking something, and this is all an idealistic pipe dream! Plus that bird (a crow) really DID attack me in the back of the head, and I've never been the same since!Nataliehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06909597803703850020noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6745671905480665246.post-14410673719527289882013-03-23T21:14:24.976-07:002013-03-23T21:14:24.976-07:00Well, Kelly - I know the probs you had with your P...Well, Kelly - I know the probs you had with your PING (and like you - "sucky" was actually Swaff words - otherwise I might have used less flowerly language). This is what worries me with my friend Fraser who was given the replacement PING for his 2020. I keep on hoping that he doesn't have the same bad luck as other PING users I've heard privately from. Without a warranty on the pump he got - let's hope it last past at least the END DATE of the 2020 pump - or longer. I have to admit - when/if I go back on GM - after I've done my i-port test (it's great BTW if you've never tried it) - I am hoping he does work for awhile - considering he was manufactured in the Fall of 2011 (I only got him in March 2012) - maybe he'll be the luckier of the other pumps I had during my warranty period - that went to "pump heaven".

This blog - like all my other previous blogs written prior to this one - have ALL been going via email to Animas Corporation / Canada - the cc list from the last one sent from Ms. Pavis - keeps on getting longer - and I like to think - they sent Mr. Flynn to the CWD FFL conference a few weeks ago - for damage protection - but again - I have a vivid imagination at times - so probably am wrong.FatCatAnnahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07066683693099915727noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6745671905480665246.post-43167604761508743292013-03-23T21:07:08.322-07:002013-03-23T21:07:08.322-07:00Wow GLove - thanks for that link - VERY informativ...Wow GLove - thanks for that link - VERY informative (I should have come to you for advise on my blog). Scary tho' that companies actually do this. I think I'm living in the wrong generation - where we seem to be getting worse as a throw-away society - and must always have new new NEW!!! :(FatCatAnnahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07066683693099915727noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6745671905480665246.post-23939598807980106102013-03-23T21:04:21.431-07:002013-03-23T21:04:21.431-07:00I have heard thru' the grapevine that Cozmo s/...I have heard thru' the grapevine that Cozmo s/w (I maybe wording this wrong) - maybe getting involved with the t:slim - if that's the case - I'm in - as I've heard nothing but great things about Cozmo which got out of the pumping program due to being pushed out of the market by a clause from Medtronic - " According to industry insiders, Deltec (Cozmo creator) has been a “dead duck” for some time now, ever since Smiths Medical, which acquired Deltec, agreed to drop a patent infringement lawsuit by Medtronic back in 2005. The costs and terms of this settlement apparently crippled Deltec. " (you can read more of AmyT's blog explaining it here - http://www.diabetesmine.com/2009/03/who-killed-the-cozmo.html. I know of a few T1D's still using their Cozmo pumps +10 years later - and that's even with the case being cracked. No s/w issues with their pump as well. So, yes ... deightfullydiabetic (love your pen name) - let's hope Health Canada and other countries outside of USA - eventually approve Tandem Diabetes to sell in our countries!FatCatAnnahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07066683693099915727noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6745671905480665246.post-86734308711214213382013-03-23T19:45:51.971-07:002013-03-23T19:45:51.971-07:00Reminds me of - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Plann...Reminds me of - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Planned_obsolescenceGLovehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04698099324322872018noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6745671905480665246.post-36047341348464415352013-03-23T19:18:43.861-07:002013-03-23T19:18:43.861-07:00My first pump and my most recent pump were covered...My first pump and my most recent pump were covered by insurance, but my Ping was purchased for cash through the Animas Access program. Despite no longer being with Animas/J&J, and despite probably getting any future pumps covered under insurance, I will NOT ever be going back to them. J&J needs to realize that actions like this don't just affect those few who pay out of pocket for pumps - it shakes the trust of many other pumpers out there, who now no longer view J&J as a reputable, honest, and caring company. It's one thing to follow a strict business model with profits in mind, and it's another thing completely to make money while also showing caring, compassion, and courtesy - which I don't think J&J has. For your sake, I hope that Tandem Diabetes expands to Canada - I think you'd love a t:slim pump. Here in the USA they cost less than a Medtronic or Animas pump, so even if you had to purchase out of pocket, it would be a smaller cost than purchasing a new Animas pump. Also, they have (thus far) the most excellent customer service I have ever seen from any pump company and I don't know of a single other t:slim user who would disagree with that. Many Medtronic and Animas employees actually jumped ship and went to work for Tandem. I believe it has to do with their personalized care for their customers, their desire to do good for the D community, and their drive to provide an excellent product and to BACK THAT UP with honesty and courtesy.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6745671905480665246.post-28436731305818234592013-03-23T19:09:03.978-07:002013-03-23T19:09:03.978-07:00After my experience with the Animas Ping, I think ...After my experience with the Animas Ping, I think using the term "sucky" is being pretty nice. My comment would get deleted if I used the term I would like to use about Johnson & Johnson! What they are doing is wrong and really hope that as a group, the Animas 2020 users get together and do a class action lawsuit against them. I am sure most people would think very differently about putting out that much money for a pump that will end up self destructing. Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
